It sounds like a dream come true, but a new restaurant opening this July in Tokyo is swopping out conveyor-belt sushi for cakes and puddings.
Café Maison Able Ron Ron will be an all-you-can-eat dessert restaurant and will open on 16thJuly in central Tokyo’s upmarket Omotesando area.
It offers 44 covers around a 38-metre conveyor belt and the name Ron Ron has been taken from the French word used to describe the purring of a cat. We’d certainly be producing that kind of sound if we were allowed free rein at this particular café.
The idea has been dreamt up by the estate agent Maison Able, who targets female-only buyers – the café will be located within their offices. A 40-minute session will cost ¥1,944 (just under £15) and you’ll be able to tuck into ice cream, pancakes, all sorts of cakes and puddings as well as chocolates and other confectionery. For those with a more savoury inclination, sandwiches and burgers will also put in an appearance on the conveyor belt.
I wonder if any of the dishes will feature Yutaka Yuzu – they might like to give our Tofu Key Lime Pie a whirl.
