Popular in east Asia, taro root has a creamy and starchy texture similar to potato. Once cooked and softened, it takes on a sweet, mild nutty flavour that pairs well with meat. Yutaka Satoimo Taro Root is pre-cooked and easy to prepare. Just add to stews, deep-fried dishes and salads.
Pre-cooked, just add to simmered dishes, stews and soups from frozen.
When adding to salads, blanch in boiling water for 3 minutes or microwave (800W) for 2-3 minutes.
Great to add in a tonjiru pork miso soup or stew with carrots, shiitake mushrooms, and chicken for a comforting and delicious nimono (simmered) dish.
