Ingredients
- 200g Yutaka Sushi Rice
- 2 tbsp Yutaka Rice Vinegar
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1-2 drops red food colouring
- 1 sheet Yutaka Nori, cut into strips
- Yutaka Soy Sauce, for serving
Directions
- Rinse the sushi rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to the packet instructions, then allow it to cool slightly.
- In a small bowl, combine the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Gently fold this mixture into the cooked rice.
- Add 1-2 drops of red food colouring to the rice and mix gently until evenly pink. Be careful not to over-mix to maintain the rice's texture.
- Wet your hands with cold water to prevent sticking. Take handful of pink rice and shape it into a compact triangle or ball.
- Place a strip of nori around the base of the onigiri for decoration and to help with handling.
- Repeat with the remaining rice and fillings.
- Serve immediately with Yutaka Soy Sauce on the side for dipping.
