Doria Rice

Often served as comfort food in Japanese households and restaurants . This hearty, comforting dish features fluffy Japanese rice topped with curry sauce, usually with meat or vegetables in it.

Ingredients

  • 150g Yutaka Sushi Rice
  • 300ml water
  • 200g ground beef
  • 1tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small carrot, diced
  • 2 tbsp Yutaka Curry Sauce Mix
  • 150ml water
  • 50g grated mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh spring onion, chopped (for garnish)

Directions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear and cook according to instructions. Once cooked, let it rest 10 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
  2. In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned. Season with Salt and pepper, then add the chopped onion and diced carrot. Saute for an additional 4-5 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the curry sauce mix 150ml water to the pan, stirring well. Let it simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened. 
  4. Preheat the oven grill to high. In an ovenpood dish, layer the cooked rice, then pour the curry mixture over the rice. Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly top.
  5. Place the dish under the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden.
  6. Garnish with chopped spring onion and serve hot.
