Loco Moco

A hearty, indulgent rice dish with a rich gravy, fried egg and burger.

Ingredients

  • 200g Yutaka Sushi Rice (or cooked white rice)
  • 2 burger steaks (beef or preferred protein)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 150g assorted mushrooms (shiitake, butoon, or chestnut), sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, minched
  • 1 tbsp Yutaka Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp Yutaka Mirin
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and black pepper
  • Optional: chopped spring onions to garnish

Directions

  1. Cook Sushi rice according to packet instructions and keep warm.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Cook the burger steaks until browned and cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, saute mushrooms and garlic until soft. Stir in soy sauce and mirin and cook for another 2 minutes. Fry eggs sunny side up or to your liking.
  4. To assemble, place a serving of rice in a bowl or on a plate. Top with a burger steak, then the sauteed mushrooms, and finish with a fried egg on top.
  5. Season with salt and pepper, and garnish with chopped spring onions if desired.
