Steak Garlic Rice

This recipe features crispy Japanese-style rice topped with tender, seared steak tossed in a smoky sauce. The combination of the rice, buttery garlic rice and the juicy steak creates a succulently satisfying contrast.

Ingredients

  • 150g Yutaka Sushi Rice
  • 200g sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp Yutaka Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Yutaka Mirin
  • 1 tbsp Yutaka Cooking Sake
  • 1 tsp butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 spring onion, finely sliced (for garbish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish) 

Directions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear and cook according to instructions. Once cooked, let it rest for 10 minutes before fluffy with a fork.
  2. In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes heat. Add the sliced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove the garlic slices from the pan and set aside.
  3. Season the steak pieces with salt and pepper. Add the steak to the same pan and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned on all sides.
  4. Add the soy sauce, mirin, and sake to the pan, stirring to coat the steak. Add the butter and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slighlty.
  5. Serve the garlic steak over the cooked rice, garnished with the crispy garlic slices, sesame seeds and sliced spring onions.
