Chumaki - Medium Sushi Rolls

This is the best and simplest way of getting into making sushi at home. Chumaki means medium sized roll and is ideal for sushi with fillings that consist of more than one ingredient, which means you can enjoy being creative with the filling!

Ingredients

Avocado, cucumber, red pepper or other vegetables of your choice
Salmon
Sushi Nori
Seasoned sushi rice
Soy sauce
Wasabi
Sushi Ginger
Bamboo Sushi Rolling Mat

Directions

1. Cut vegetables and salmon into strips.
2. Place mat horizontally and place nori on top, rough side up.
3. Wet your hands and spread seasoned sushi rice. Leave 6cm space top side of nori.
4. Spread wasabi along centre (optional).
5. Place fillings next to each other but try not to overfill.
6. Lift the closest edge of the bamboo mat and roll away from you.
7. Compress firmly and then continue rolling to the end.
8. Wet a sharp knife and cut to pieces. (Wet knife between cuts.)
9. Enjoy with sushi ginger, wasabi & soy sauce.
