Ingredients

  • 500 minced beef
  • 4 tbsp Yutaka soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Yutaka mirin
  • 2 tbsp Yutaka cooking sake
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 200g cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 large carrot, grated
  • 2 tbsp Yutaka rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp Yutaka sesame seeds
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 4 lettuce leaves

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrot, and sliced spring onions.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, 1 tbsp soy sauce, sesame oil, and sugar until the sugar is dissolved. Pour this dressing over the vegetables, sprinkle with sesame seeds and toss well.
  3. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, mirin, sake, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  4. Divided the minced beef into 4 equal portions and shape then into patties.
  5. Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the beef patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until cooked through.
  6. During the last minute of cooking, pour the teriyaki sauce over the patties and let them glaze, turning the patties to coat them evenly.
  7. Lightly toast the burger buns and place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun.
  8. Add a beef patty on top of the lettuce, followed by a slice of cheddar cheese if using.
  9. Top with generous amount of cabbage slaw and close the buns.
