Ingredients
- 300g Yutaka Sushi Rice
- 375ml water
- 3 tbsp Yutaka Rice Vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 200g smoked salmon, cut into circles or strips
Directions
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. In a medium saucepan, combine the rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 15 mintues or until the water is absorbed.
- In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Once the rice is cooked, remove it from the heat and let it sit covered fro 10 minutes. Then, transfer the rice to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.
- Wet your hands to prevent sticking. Take a small amount of sushi rice (about the size of a golf ball) and form it into a ball.
- Place a circle or strip of smoked salmon on top of each rice ball, pressing gently to adhere.
- Using kitchen scissors, cut the nori into small shapes for eyes, noses and mouths. Stick the nori pieces into rice to create fun faces on each sushi ball, giving them unique expressions.
- Serve the halloween salmon sushi balls chilled or at room temperature.
